This tilde sign ~ is absolutely a strange problem to solve, a puzzle more likely.
Foreword, I got new keyboard by Jete. I chose that keyboard because I needed bluetooth connection and I had to find a keyboard within 2 days – it was tight deadline. I did not know about Mechanical Keyboard at that time, so I got this membrane keyboard
The Jete keyboard is beautiful, it’s a 60% keyboard, I think. See the layout above as the featured image.
The puzzle started when I got into Mac OS Terminal. I cannot type a tilde ~ sign because somehow the actual ~ key doesn’t work. I have tried combinations of shift + that actual ~ key, option + that actual ~ key + command + that actual ~ key.
I found the answer by using Keyboard Viewer tool on Mac (please note I’m using Mac OS Sequoia). I need to use this Keyboard Viewer tool on Mac because keyboard keys layout on Mac OS setting are different than the keys on Jete Keyboard. I have tried to set keyboard layout in Input Sources to US International – PC or US, none of that is working. So I decided to activate Show Input Menu in Menu Bar option in Keyboard setting which can be found in System Settings where Keyboard Viewer is.

I show Keyboard Viewer by clicking Input Menu on the top right of the screen where it is next to WiFi symbol in menu bar. The solution is by pressing Shift key and click ~ with mouse on the Keyboard Viewer where the tilde sign is.

This solution is not practical because Keyboard Viewer needed to be shown on the screen, that’s not neat if you have many windows open on the screen. But I’m okay with this solution FOR NOW, I probably will need new keyboard anyway (mechanical keyboard, maybe?)
Update this post on 22 April, I bought a 65% mechanical keyboard. Same problem with that Jete keyboard. My new keyboard does not have that ~ sign – I typed the tilde sign here with Keyboard Viewer.
If you have same problem like, solution so far is Keyboard Viewer
