Problem with login after upgrade to WordPress 2.7

Written on January 5th,2009

I had a problem with one of sites after upgrade to WP 2.7. The problem was login, when a user entered the username and the password, instead went to WP Dashboard, it just went back to WP Login.

Then I typed the site address with wp-admin, e.g http://mysite.com/wp-admin/.  I got WP Dashboard.  so what did happen?

I remembered the site had two addresses in Settings, WordPress address (url) and Blog Address (url), as expected, WordPress address (url) used www, Blog Address (url) didn’t use www. I changed one of them to match, saved.

Login is back normal again, what did happen?

I can’t explain that, it usually work prior WP 2.7.  But if you have a problem like mine, above tips may useful.

Thanks, that simple tip fixed the problem for me. I panicked after I found out I couldn’t login after my upgrade, but luckily, I simply had to hit back page a few times on my browser to make it back onto the admin side, and then apply your tip.
    Cheers,
    Gilles
