When Safari was popping up a warning window, I knew that something went wrong with Windows system. It started from Safari 4.
I excited when Apple announced Safari 5. I couldn’t wait to download and install Safari 5. It happened again, it popped up a warning window.
I saw that the problem related to mscvr80.dll.
“Cannot start Safari. A necessary component is missing: msvcr80.dll. Please install Safari again.”
What’s mscvr80.dll? msvcr80.dll is Microsoft C Runtime Library to run programs written using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
What cause the errors?
Msvcr80.dll error messages generally pop up when you try to run or install an application or a program. You may also come across this error when you start or shut down your system.
A missing or corrupt msvcr80.dll file is generally the reason behind these error messages.
How to fix it?
Download mscvr80.dll. The file will open in Winzip; click the “Extract” button, choose your desktop as the destination directory for the unzipped file and click “Open.” Msvcr80.dll will appear on your desktop. If you’re using Windows XP or Vista in a 32-bit system, navigate to “C:\Windows\System32.” If you’re using either of these systems in a 64-bit system, navigate to “C:\Windows\SysWOW64.” If you’re using Windows 2000 or NT, navigate to “C:\WINNT\System32.” If you’re using Windows 95, 98 or ME, navigate to “C:\Windows\System.”
Copy and paste the msvcr80.dll you extracted to the desktop into the system folder. If you’re asked whether you want to replace an existing file of the same name, click “Yes.”
Try to reboot your computer. But if you meet that errors again or it still showing the errors after open Safari, you can copy and paste mscvr80.dll into the system folder again without reboot after that.
Open your Safari, the problem gone.
