Private Only 1.8

News•on March 14th, 2010•24 Comments

Private Only 1.8 is a WordPress plugin to redirects all non-logged in users to login form.
Private Only 1.8
It has all features in Private Only 1.6,

1. Redirect all non-logged in users to login form
2. Custom Login. You can change background page, login form, disable wordpress logo, button Log In text color.

I had received few feedbacks about Private Only 1.6 before two new features added to the  Private Only 1.8 plugin.

Private Only 1.6 was hiding the WordPress logo when you didn’t select the WordPress logo option. The built-in block feed in Private Only 1.6 was  automatically blocking feed when you activated the plugin.

These two new features are

Private Only 1.8
1. New feature! You can change WordPress logo to your own logo
Private Only 1.8
2. New feature! Sub plugin name Disable Feed that allow you to choose disable or enable feed. This new sub plugin replaced built-in Block Feed feature in Private Only 1.6. You can activate/deactivate Disable feed without interupt Private Only
Installation
1. Download Private Only 1.8 from WordPress.org plugin directory
2. Upload plugin directory to wp-content/plugins dir
3. Activate the Private Only 1.8 via Plugins page in WP-Admin
Upgrade
1. Backup  a copy of your old Private Only
2. Deactivate the old Private Only
3. Upload the new version or Private Only 1.8
4. Reactivate it

The plugin works for me, but my color specifications in the Private Only Custom Login settings are not being rendered. I have tried it with Use-Your-Own-CSS toggled on and off. Is there a cache or directory permissions setting I should check? It’s currently set to 755. Thanks for the plugin development and updates!

      1. use color picker included with the plugin. When mouse over, it will popup color picker.

      2. use number only in color text field. Don’t add # in front of the color hex numbers

After activating the plugin, i tred to customize the appearence with the “Private Only Custom Login Settings” page, but it does not affect the login page. Maybe i missed an important step ?!

I tried with ” ../../../uploads/mybackground.jpg ” or full path adress of my custom background. I tried to check the different boxes but the login page stay default in all cases.

Kate, this seems like the perfect solution for a site that I’m working on.

Only problem is that I can’t figure it out. I don’t see how to actually add the login/password info.

The plugin is installed, activated, and am looking at the Private Only Custom Login options. But no matter what I do, nothing changes on my site. ( i also changed permissions to 777 for css folder)

I can’t even get the default login to show.

I must be missing something obvious, I’m sure… any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks you!

There’s an option on Private Only Custom Login Settings name Use Your Own CSS, deselect that option

How to I set it up to where after you log in, you get re-directed to the blog, not the dashboard?

Yes, you get redirected to the blog, not the dashboard. There’s no option for that.

I have this up and running, but I was wondering if there was an easy way to redirect to the registration page first?

    thanks,

No option to redirect it to the registration page. There’s no way to do it. You can turn registration on in WP-Admin > General settings. It shows register link in WordPress login page

I like this feature as i am trying to make my blog private.

However, like the above, when I make any changes and hit ‘save’ nothing happens.

The ‘reset’ button works fine, but the ‘save’ button does not do anything.

    Thoughts?

      1. Try to change css folder permission inside Private Only folder to 777

      2. Select Use Your Own CSS in Private Only Custom Login settings

Here is the source for my page…it appears there is no action associated with ‘save’

Check this box to use WordPress Logo, leave unchecked to disable it.

I checked Private Only on WP 2.9 and WP 3.0. It’s working.

Try to disable all plugins in your site. Enable Private Only first, see what will happen

Hi. Great plugin. So, when someone signs in, they are instantly redirected to their personal profile page and not the blog or content pages. How can this be changed? Thx.

I’m going to update the plugin for WordPress 3.0. I’ll consider this feature in the next version.

Great. Thanks for the quick response. In the meantime I have found a quick workaround – Peter’s Login Redirect. This allows me to point a user to any page using roles, etc. Cheers!
